Seena E. Kannarr Thomas Copas Ashby, age 92, of Wichita, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Parkwest Plaza in Wichita. She was born January 17, 1917, on a farm west of Neosho Falls, Kansas, the daughter of Charlie C. and Seena A. (Storms) Kannarr. In April of 1936, Seena married Ralph Richard Thomas and they had a daughter, Phyllis. Mr. Thomas preceded her in death in 1941. After his death she moved to Wichita where she worked for Boeing Aircraft. In 1944, she married Henry Arthur Copas and they made their home in Wichita. After WWII, she began working for Cudahy Packing Company where she worked until they closed the Wichita plant. She then worked a few years for Midwest Plastic Company before retiring. Mr. Copas preceded her in death in 1988. On March 3, 1991, she married Homer L. Ashby and they made their home in Wichita. In 2005 their health failed and they moved to assisted living and then to the nursing home. She was a member of the North Star Chapter of Eastern Star for more than 50 years. Ashby of the home 1 Daughter: Phyllis Treadwell and husband, William of Stillwater, OK 2 Step-Sons: Maurice Ashby & wife, Ruth, of Arvada, CO; and Johnnie Ashby of Wichita, KS 1 Step-Daughter: Sherian Miller & husband, Lloyd of Wichita, KS 7 Grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Raymond, Lloyd and Frank Kannarr and 4 sisters, Peggy Kannarr, Vi Stults, Della Pinkerton and Etta Smith. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2009, at the Yates Center Cemetery in Yates Center, KS. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
