Sharon E. Blomquist, age 74, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett.
Sharon was born on April 6, 1949, the daughter of James and Helen (Ramsour) Cubit. She first attended a one room schoolhouse, Washington School, before graduating from Garnett High School in 1967. Sharon was very active in 4-H, she won many county and state level awards for her cooking entries. Her 4-H projects led to countless hours of quality time with her mother as Sharon completed her sewing and cooking projects. Sharon was her dad's little girl and she was a devoted daughter throughout his life. She volunteered as a candy striper at the Garnett hospital, which ignited her passion for working in healthcare. Following high school she earned her LPN from Emporia State University. Sharon then worked as a nurse's aide in several Garnett area facilities throughout her career.
In 1967 Sharon married Reinhold "Randy" Blomquist in Emporia, Kansas. Their union was blessed with three sons, Thomas, William, and Michael. They later divorced. Sharon grew up attending the United Presbyterian Church in Garnett, where she also sang with the choir as a young woman. She had a variety of pets over the years, but her cats had a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her favorite uncle, John Ramsour.
Sharon is survived by her three sons, Tom Blomquist of Garnett, Bill Blomquist of Hutchinson, Kansas, Mike Blomquist and wife, Edna of Neosho Rapids, Kansas; three grandchildren, Aniston, Xander and Reagan; brother, John Cubit and wife, Mary of Garnett; nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Paco.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. Sharon's family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday evening at the funeral home.
