Shawn Dale Johnston

Shawn Dale Johnston, age 37, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at his home. He was born on February 11, 1973, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Wayne Lee Johnston, Sr. and Cynthia Diane Nicholas. His family moved to Garnett in 1974. Shawn attended school in Greeley and Garnett. He worked as a cook at local restaurants until his health prevented his ability to work. Shawn was a member of the Garnett Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed walking and watching sports. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Lee Johnston, Jr. Shawn is survived by his son, Alexander Ray Johnston of Ottawa, Kansas; his father, Wayne Lee Johnston, Sr. and his companion and Shawn's care-giver, Penny Layton, of Garnett; his mother, Cynthia Diane Nicholas and husband Nick of Salton Sea, California; two sisters, Tanya D. Johnston and Esther M. Garcia and husband Mario, all of Garnett, and 5 nieces and 8 nephews.
