Shirley Ann Evans, 55, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday September 8, 2014, at the home of her sister in Iola. Shirley was born July 16, 1959, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd Eugene and Marie Anna ( Kleinsorge ) Ohmie. She graduated from LeRoy High School. Shirley was married to Andy Evans and they made their home in Iola. She worked for Gates Rubber for over thirty-two years before retiring in February of this year. Shirley was involved with numerous community activities including Safe Base. She enjoyed watching all sports and played many of them with softball being her favorite. Shirley also had a passion for early morning bird watching. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. SURVIVORS: Her husband of 32 years; Andy Evans 1 son; A.J. Evans of Iola 2 daughters; Gail Lamb of Topeka, and Alex Dickerson and husband Damon of Lenexa. Mother; Marie Ohmie of Iola 2 brothers; Ron Ohmie and wife Patty of Burlington, and Jim Ohmie and wife Dorene of Iola. 3 sisters; Marjorie Boeckman and husband Ed of LaFayette, Indiana, Marcella Waller of Goodyear, Arizona, and Sharon Thummel and husband Jerry of Iola. 3 grandchildren; D'Ante and Ty'a Lamb, and Drayce Dickerson and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola.
