Shirley I. Hunt, age 86, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at St. John Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas.
She was born January 17, 1936, at Kincaid, Kansas, the daughter of Walter and Clara (Petzell) Hartman. Shirley graduated from Welda High School. Her family moved to Richmond before moving to Welda to the farm.
Shirley married Robert Lee Harris, this union was blessed with one daughter, Rose, they later divorced. She then married Carl Russell, this union was blessed with one daughter, Clara Marie, then later divorced. In later years, she married Roland Hunt, he preceded her in death.
She worked at various restaurants and became a C.N.A. for over 20 years. Shirley loved flowers, with tulips being her favorites. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking. One of her greatest joys was cooking and preparing feasts for her family. She also enjoyed her dogs and her cats and taking day trips traveling to unplanned destinations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Clara Hartman; one brother, John Hartman; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Hartman; one step-son, Jerry Hunt.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Rose Worthington and husband David of Granby, Colorado; Clara Marie Russell of Topeka, Kansas; step-children, Gladys Hunt of Garnett, Kansas; Vickie Due of Flippin, Arkansas; and Fred Hunt of San Diego, California; four grandchildren, Craig Worthington of Grand Lake, Colorado; John Worthington of Overland Park, Kansas; Mika Walker of Lawrence, Kansas; and Toby Hunt and wife Heather of Leawood, Kansas; three great grandchildren, Trevor Maxwell and Kaylen Kearney, both of Topeka, Kansas, Mikhia Walker of Lawrence, Kansas; one brother, Robert Hartman of Garnett, Kansas; and Angie Kearney of Topeka, Kansas; and many other extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Monday, June 20, 2022, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, with burial to follow in the Welda Cemetery, The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
