Shirley M Ard

Shirley May Ard, age 72, of Elsmore, Kansas, age 72, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at her home. She was born June 29, 1944, the daughter of Harry R. and Ruby May (McGuire) Withers. Shirley graduated from Pratt High School, Pratt, Kansas, and followed up with a Bachelor Degree in Philosophy from Colorado College. Shirley married Richard Ard on August 20, 1966 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with two sons, Paul and Jeffrey. She drove a school bus in Colorado Springs, Colorado for several years. Shirley also worked as a nurse's aide at Wesley Tower Nursing Home in Hutchinson and Moran Manor in Moran for many years. Shirley loved the outdoor life, especially horses and roosters. She enjoyed swimming, drawing, riding horses and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed planting trees and planting flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Danny Withers and Stanley Withers. Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard Ard of the home; two sons, Paul Richard Ard and wife Lia of Elsmore, Kansas; Jeff Ard of Elsmore, Kansas; two grandchildren, Paulia Ard and Michael Ard; one brother, Dale Withers of Pratt, Kansas; Dixie Withers of Hutchinson, Kansas; and one sister, Carolyn Southard of Pratt, Kansas.
