Spencer Vincent Newman, Jr.

Spencer Vincent Newman, Jr., 61, of LaHarpe, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at his home. Spencer was born February 17, 1955, in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Spencer Vincent and Rita Ann (Gravett) Newman, Sr. He grew up in the Iola and LaHarpe areas. Over the years, he worked at Tysons, IMP Boats, Hi-Lo in Chanute and in maintenance. He is survived by his long-time companion, Sandy Nolan; 7 children, Spencer V. Newman III of Wichita, Christina Martin of LaHarpe, Jessica Carlson of Wichita, David Rider of Wichita, John Nolan of Neosho Falls, Fred Nolan of Garnett, and Richard Ballagh of Iola; his mother, Rita Ann Peterson of Redfield; 4 siblings, Terry Newman of Iola, John Newman of Baldwin City, Deborah Newman of Redfield and Hope Collins of Oklahoma; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his dad, his step-dad Clifford Peterson, siblings Lucy King and Robert Peterson and niece Sarah Mueller. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola. Feuerborn Family Funeral Service of Iola assisted the family.
