Stephen Edward Brown

Stephen Edward Brown, age 63, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza. He was born August 9, 1952, at Garnett, Kansas, the son of Nolan Edward and Doris Jean (Clinkenbeard) Brown. He graduated from Garnett High School in 1970 and from Emporia State University with a Bachelor in General Studies. He then attended Radiology School at Hutchinson, Kansas. Stephen married Brenda Bradley on April 27, 1971 at Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children. He worked at Iowa Beef Plant and Modine Manufacturing in Emporia for many years; he also worked at Newman's Hospital in Emporia and the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett as a Radiology Technician. Stephen was the grounds keeper at the TRYSA Soccer Fields at Emporia for several years. He enjoyed all sports, fishing, golfing, hunting and Wal-Mart. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Nolan Edward Brown; and one sister, Jayne Poss. Stephen is survived by his wife Brenda Brown, of the home; children, Angela Thomas and husband Scott of Emporia, Kansas; Bradley Brown and wife Kelly of Emporia, Kansas; James Brown and wife Trista of LeRoy, Kansas; eleven grandchildren, Maizie, Alexis, Bryce, Izic, Jacob, Ashton, Jordan, Aliyah, Troy, Brooke, and Kari; two great grandchildren, Destiny and Sylas; mother, Doris Jean Brown of Garnett, Kansas; two sisters, Nancy Bain and husband Jeff of Pryor, Oklahoma; Lisa Minis of Kansas City, Missouri; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett; burial following at the Rock Creek Township Cemetery in Waverly. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to Stephen Brown Memorial Fund.
