Tena Evelyn Johnson, age 93 years 2 months 16 days, passed away May 8, 2015 at Golden Heights, Garnett, Kansas. Tena was born February 20, 1922 to John M. and Elizabeth (Craig) Thomas on the family farm three and one half miles northeast of Garnett. Tena was the youngest of five children, and the only daughter. Tena attended grade school at a one room school and later graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1940. Following high school she completed teacher's training and taught a couple of years at High Point School where she herself had attended grade school. On February 13, 1946 Tena married Clyde Franklin Johnson. This union was blessed with two sons, Fred Franklin and Thomas Clyde. Tena was a good wife and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family and helping on the farm. In later years she worked for Jerald and Jeanie Patterson at P.J.'s Restaurant. She also worked in the kitchen at the Anderson County Hospital. Tena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1974; son, Fred, in 2012; two granddaughters, Betsy Johnson in 1980, and Caroline Johnson Ludolph in 2008; four brothers, Wilbur, Sam, Jim, and Raymond Thomas. Tena is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jane Johnson of Ottawa, Kansas; son, Tom and wife, JoAnn Johnson of Garnett; five grandchildren, Ross and Tony Johnson, Rebecca Teter and husband, Mike, Paul and wife, Erin, Luke and wife, Julie; six great-grandchildren, Austin and Jaden Teter, Henry, Clare, Shyla, and Asher Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Mont Ida Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett.
