Teresa Nicolas

Maria Teresa D. Nicolas, age 52, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at St. Luke's Plaza Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on April 30, 1960, in Manila, Philippines, the daughter of Alejandro and Sylvestra (Tugaoen) Donato. She grew up in Manila where she graduated from high school, and earned her degree of B.S. MT from the Philippines Women's University. Following school she worked as a medical technologist at Philippines General Hospital. Teresa married Cris Nicolas on March 31, 1990 and they had one child, John Joseph (JJ). She migrated to the United States in 1995 and worked as a lab tech in California until she began working at Anderson County Hospital, where she worked from 1995 to 2012. In 1997, Cris and JJ joined her in the United States. Both Cris and Teresa worked at the Anderson County Hospital. In 2004, their second son was born, Jorel Christopher. She and her family received their American Citizenship in 2006. She loved to cook native Pilipino foods. She always had a smile to share with others, and she had a pleasing and easy going personality. We will be missing her smile and friendship. Teresa is survived by her husband, Cris, two sons, J.J. and Jorel; one brother Dante Donato and one sister, Florian Donato, both of Manila, Philippines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends following a 7:00 PM Rosary service Wednesday evening at the church.
