Terry Burns

Terry Wayne Burns, 58, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, June 8, 2012. Terry was born December 10, 1953, at Olathe, Kansas, the son of Bob and Maude (Stringer) Burns. The family moved to Iola from Parsons in 1969, and Terry graduated from Iola High School in 1972. He started working for Southwestern Bell as an operator and has worked for the company 38 years, currently working as a communications technician with AT&T. On May 30, 1981, Terry married Kim M. Murray in Iola where they made their home. They lived in Belle Plaine, Kansas for 10 years before returning to Iola in 1996. He was a member of Iola Elks and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working crosswords and spending time at Grand Lake. SURVIVORS: His wife of 31 years: Kim Burns of the home 2 Children: Candi Morris & husband, Tony of Iola, KS and Nick Burns of Iola, KS 1 Grandson: Austin Morris His Parents: Bob & Maude Burns of Iola, KS 3 Siblings: Cinda Jones & husband, Mike of Moran, KS, Don Burns & wife, Jane of Gas, KS and Ron Burns of Hollywood, FL His In-Laws: Don & Lois Murray of Iola, KS Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
