Terry Joe Cox, age 84, of Reeds, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Terry was born on August 14, 1939, to Joel Frank and Selma (Harzman) Cox in Alva, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Richmond, Kansas area, attending school and graduating from Richmond High School with the class of 1957.

In his younger years, Terry had a job cleaning and fueling airplanes where he was offered training and flight classes, which led to him obtaining his pilot's license. Within this passion, he purchased an airplane and enjoyed flying.

Terry was united in marriage to Betty in 1959. The union was blessed with two children. Later he married Alberta Kay in 1970, where Terry adopted her two children.

After moving to Wichita, he began his lifelong career of operating ACE Hardware stores. He managed several stores throughout his life until retirement.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rodney Dale Cox; wives, Betty Heckman and Alberta Kay Cox.

He is survived by his children, Rodney, Kim, Angel, Matt; seven grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren; siblings, Larry Cox and Beverly Long; and numerous other family members.

Funeral services for Terry will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Richmond United Methodist Church in Richmond, Kansas. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. Terry's family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Richmond United Methodist Church and can be left in care of the funeral home. Condolences can be left for the family at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
