Terry Joe Feuerborn was born on October 17, 1948, at Garnett Kansas Poor Farm, where the Anderson County Shop sits now. He smiled at life within the first three seconds. The only stranger he knew was the one that he never met. He was the first of eight children of Cyril and Rosetta (Shay) Feuerborn. He attended the Junction grade school, then graduated 8th grade from Holy Angels School. In 1966 he graduated from Garnett High School. Terry then attended Coffeyville SEK Area-Tech and graduated as an auto mechanic in 1967.
Terry returned to Garnett and worked for Dale Lybarger and Gail Long at Main Street Mobil as an auto mechanic. He also served in the Army National Guard, and was activated during the riots in Lawrence, Kansas. In 1969, he moved to Emporia, Kansas, where he worked for Iowa Beef Packers on the kill floor for two years. Terry then began farming northwest of Garnett until moving to Kincaid in 1973. After moving to Kincaid, he was active in local events. He was proud of serving on the Kincaid Fair Board and as president, and the Kincaid Lions Club for many years. In 2001 he moved to Garnett, Kansas, then in 2007 he met the love of his life, Connie Beckwith, and moved to rural Richmond, 3 miles north of where he was raised.
On July 19, 1969 Terry married Janice Smethers at Kincaid. Their union was blessed with two children, Heather, in 1974, and Heath, in 1981. They later divorced. Terry enjoyed his family and his many friends. He enjoyed farming life and collecting, and working on International Harvester tractors, with his son and especially his grandsons, Holden and Hayden. He and Connie attended tractor drives in over eleven states, one particular drive in Nebraska was 500 miles long, and another crossed the Mackinac Bridge. In 1973, Terry began as an instructor for Kansas Hunter Education, over the years he taught in 16 area communities. Terry enjoyed his children and grandchildren's sports and other events. In his free time, Terry liked reading and watching old cowboy movies, and the Chiefs and Royals games.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Rosetta Feuerborn; and Connie's father, James Kueser.
