Theonilla B. Lutz

Theonilla B. Lutz, age 93, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Golden Heights in Garnett, Kansas. She was born on March 13, 1917 in Anderson County, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Osterholt) Duethman. Theonilla was united in marriage to Eugene A. Lutz on December 27, 1937 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Westphalia, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Altar Society. Theonilla enjoyed gardening, mowing, and fishing, but most of all she enjoyed her grandkids. Theonilla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Lutz on March 18, 1992; a grandson, Steve Penson; one great-granddaughter Heather McCoy; and one brother, Joseph Duethman. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Penson and husband Don of Garnett, Kansas; Alice Lickteig and husband Jake of Garnett; and Elizabeth Slagle of Garnett; her son, Donald Lutz and wife Joyce of Centerview, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred Duethman, and Wilfred Duethman and wife, Wilma, all of Paola, Kansas; two sisters, Mary Drum and husband, Don, of Westphalia, Kansas, and Eileen Highberger of Salem, Virginia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Emerald, Kansas. Burial will follow at the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Emerald. The family will greet friends following the Rosary at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Cemetery Fund or to Golden Heights and may be left in care of the funeral home.
