Theora Lucille Taggart

Theora Lucille Taggart, age 93, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Saturday June 22, 2019 at Allen County Regional Hospital in Iola, Kansas. Theora was born September 22, 1925 in Lowe, Kansas to Thomas Sanborn and Elvessa (Myers). Theora graduated two years early, at the age of sixteen, from Sedan High school. After high school, she worked at the local grocery store. In 1941, Theora met William Bruner, in 1943 they were married in Sedan, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children. During World War II while William was overseas, Theora worked in Wichita at Roebucks Drygoods. After William returned from the war, they relocated back to Sedan where they opened a Conoco Service Station and The Port of Entry in Chautauqua, Kansas. She worked in the businesses doing administrative work. William passed away prematurely in 1952. After Williams passing, she worked for many years at Stocks Drygoods Store in Sedan. In the late fifties, she met Robert Taggart and they married in 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma. After they married, the family relocated to Iola, Kansas. She first worked for Ramsey’s, then Montgomery Wards, and after that, she transitioned into bookkeeping for M&M Packing. Theora retired from Brice Packaging in 1989. After retirement, her and her sisters enjoyed traveling on various tour bus packages. Theora also enjoyed sewing and quilting. Theora was preceded in death by her parents; husband William F. Bruner; husband Robert Taggart; one son Terry Lee Bruner; daughter-in-law Chris Bruner; three sisters and four brothers; nieces and nephews. Theora is survived by one son Bill Bruner of Kearney, Mo; five grandchildren Terry Bruner II, Jenni Ware, Tina Suppes, Billy Bruner, Robert Bruner; one adopted grandchild Ashley Bratsch; nine great-grandchildren Emily Ware, Danielle Louk, Buddy Ware, Skylar Suppes, Zach Suppes, Davis Suppes, Tyler Suppes, Terry (Trey) Bruner III, and Cami Ray Bruner ; one great-great-grandchild Elizabeth Louk; and numerous other relatives. Funeral Services for Theora will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019, 11:00A.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 228 South Kentucky St. Iola, Kansas 66749. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Trinity United Methodist. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Sedan, Kansas.   Memorials in honor of Theora can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church of Iola, and can be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
