Thomas Lee Rockers, age 57, of Rantoul, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas.
Tom was born on September 19, 1962, at Garnett, Kansas. He was the second of five children born to Richard Lee and Betty (Schwegman) Rockers. He grew up on the family dairy farm near Greeley, and graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1980. Following high school Tom started working on a crew building and installing grain dryers throughout the United States. After fifteen years of working on the road, Tom, changed professions and began working as an equipment operator for Ron Weers Construction. He took pride in and loved his work, spending the last several years as a foreman, working throughout countless subdivisions in the Kansas City area.
In his free time Tom loved to hunt and fish and work around his home, but he especially loved spending time and country cruising with Laura. Tom will be missed for the stories he loved to tell and his memory will live on through those stories and the laughs that will be shared.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Rockers on February 5, 2016.
Tom is survived by his significant other, Laura Hare, who he shared the last twenty-two years with, of the home; his mother, Betty Rockers, of Greeley, Kansas; four sisters, Diane Ray and Brad of Mound City, Kansas; Bonnie Dalsing and Darin of Kincaid, Kansas; Debbie Rockers and Norman Shields of Greeley; Bridget Rockers of Overland Park, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 17, 2020, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio. Tom’s family will greet friends following a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Sunday evening at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Lee Rockers Memorial Fund.
