Venita Ann Kelly, age 58, of Seneca, Missouri, passed away on April 2, 2012 at Freeman West Hospital, following a six month illness of pancreatic cancer. Venita was born April 20, 1953 in Corona, CA, the daughter of Marvin and Carol Jane (Bell) Mersman. She moved to Seneca in 1975 and had worked as a secretary for the Seneca School District until 2009 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Seneca. Venita married Dennis Kelly on June 30, 1977. This union was blessed with two daughters. She is preceded in death by her father; brother, William Mersman; and nephew, Sgt. Jeffery Mersman. Venita is survived by her husband, Dennis Kelly, of the home; two daughters, Wendy Chrisenbery and husband, Michael, Joplin, MO; Carol M. Kumbier and husband, Alexander, Joplin; four grandchildren, Joseph Hembree, Aubrey Chrisenbery, Kelly Jane Kumbier and Phillip Kumbier; her mother, Carol Jane Mersman; two sisters, Greta Baker and Marva Katzer; seven brothers, Leland Mersman, Robert Mersman, Anthony 'Tony' Mersman, Richard Mersman, Mark Mersman, Gerald Mersman, James Mersman and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
