Vernon Glenn Settlemyer, age 90, of Neosho Falls, Kansas, passed away December 17, 2023, at Iola Medicalodges. Vernon was born April 8, 1933, in rural Neosho Falls to Ivan Settlemyer and Virginia (Dickerson) Settlemyer.
Vernon and Ruth Bolinger were married on December 11, 1966. Vernon was a farmer his entire life.
Vernon loved to fish, garden, and he was proud of his yard and rose bushes. He liked to tell jokes and could be found playing pitch most Saturday nights. Vernon loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed watching the Chiefs play football and Jayhawk basketball.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gordon Settlemyer; sisters, Mary Lou Hadley, Jeanie Qualls; and grandson, Derek Settlemyer.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Don (Kristie) Settlemyer; daughter, Melinda Martin; grandchildren, Camille Settlemyer, Casey (Beth) Settlemyer, Dacoda (Bobbi) Hunt, Kyle Light, Devin Wactor, Dakota Wactor, Kameron (Alenten) Wilson; 13 great-grandchildren, sisters, Karen (Glen) Allen, Diane (Lloyd) Davidson; brother-in-law, Larry Qualls; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Geneva Cemetery, Colony, Kansas.
