Vicky Adams

Vicky Adams, age 62, of Welda, Kansas, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011, at her home. She was born on January 17, 1949, at Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Melvin E. and Betty Jane (Hiestand) Adams. Vicky grew up in Welda attending school there, graduating from Welda High School in 1967. Following school Vicky lived in Topeka, then Colorado, Illinois and South Dakota before returning to Welda in 1982. Vicky worked at Midland Brake / Haldex in Iola for over 26 years, retiring in 2010 when the plant closed. Vicky enjoyed trips to the casino and Margaritas Restaurant, watching NASCAR and KU basketball. She also liked to cook for her family and will be missed for her pies, potato salad and noodles. Her greatest joy came from her granddaughter Lexy. She was preceded by in death by her parents; Melvin E. and Betty Adams; and brother, Melvin Earl Adams, Jr. Vicky is survived by her daughter and granddaughter, Samantha and Alexis Overstreet of Garnett, brother, Doug Adams and wife Dawn of Scipio, Kansas; two sisters, Nancy Tush and husband Rick of Eureka, Kansas, Rebecca Doebele and husband Rick of Hanover, Kansas; sister-in-law Mary Adams of Garnett, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Sunday evening at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services; Vicky will then be buried by her parents in the Welda Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to her Granddaughter's Education or to the Welda Community Building and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
