Victor Marion "Vic" Raney, age 74, passed away on April 10, 2023, at his home in Yates Center, Kansas.
Vic was born at home, 1124 N. Cottonwood, in Iola, Kansas, to V.M. "Bud" Raney and Phyllis Raney. He had three sisters, Diana, Marilyn, and Marsha, as well as one brother, Vance.
Vic attended Jefferson Elementary School and Jr. High School in Iola, and then went on the road with his dad to be a pipeline welder. Vic was very proud to be called a Union Brat.
Victor married Connie Walters and this union was blessed with three children, Stacey, Shawna, and Tera. Connie later passed away. Vic eventually courted and married Stonna on May 17, 2008, in Yates Center Kansas. With this union Vic gained two bonus children, Shelley and Shane. Vic mentioned many times that these past 12 years have been the best years of his life.
Throughout his life, Vic has held many jobs. He worked as a carrier between Kansas City and Fort Scott, Kansas; a welder on missile silos; and an aerospace welder at Boeing from where he retired in 2009.
Vic enjoyed animals - especially his dogs Lakota and Radar. He enjoyed working out in the yard with his wife and walking his dogs.
People that knew Vic knew when you saw him, Stonna was right there beside him. They had a special bond between them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Phyllis Raney; his brother, Vance; and his son, Stacey Raney.
Vic is survived by his wife, Stonna, of the home; daughters, Shawna Raney and Tera (Terry) Prather; bonus children, Shelley (Charley) Davis and Shane (Sheri) Smith; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many additional family and friends.
