Virginia Bland

Virginia Lea Bland, 65, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at her home. Virginia was born March 20, 1947, in Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of Jack and Dorothy (Ralston) Reed. She grew up in the Yates Center, Neosho Falls and Iola areas. On June 17, 1965, Virginia married Orva M. Bland, Sr. and they made their home in LeRoy for six years before moving to Iola. She worked at a nursing home in Yates Center and later at H.L. Miller and Son Dress Factory in Iola. Mr. Bland preceded her in death February 25, 2011. Virginia was a member of Community Baptist Church in Iola. SURVIVORS: 2 Sons: Joe Bland and Jerry Bland and wife, Zolene all of Iola, KS Her Mother: Dorothy Reed of Gas, KS 3 Brothers: John Reed of Piqua, William Reed of Iola and Ricky Reed of Muskogee, OK 6 Sisters: Phyllis Hobbs of Wagoner, OK, Millie Scantlin of Osawatomie, Margaret Anderson, Iola, Jackie Yocham of Vian, OK, Marilyn Ulery of Gas and Sarah Womelsdorf of LaHarpe, KS 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her father, infant son Jimmy Dale, son Orva M. "Sonny" Bland, Jr., two grandsons Jerry Bland, Jr. and Levi Jeriah Bland, and great grandson Peyton Harris. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. BURIAL: Gas City Cemetery, Gas, KS MEMORIAL: The Virginia L.
