Virginia B. Dozier

d. April 5, 2013

Virginia Belle Dozier, age 98, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Anderson County Long Term Care Facility in Garnett. She was born November 26, 1914, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Victor and Elizabeth (Stuffings) Randall. Virginia graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Virginia married Henry Dozier on July 1, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri. This union was blessed with five children. She spent a lot of time with her Grandma Randall, Uncles, Aunts and Cousins on a farm near Butler, Missouri. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Garnett Nazarene Church. She was an inspiration to many people and was a prayer warrior. The family lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Weston, Missouri, Merriam, Kansas, Farlinville, Kansas, Centerville, Kansas, and Blue Mound, Kansas. Moving from the city to the country was quite a challenge where there was no electricity, no running water, or inside facilities. She washed clothes for the family on a washboard, and always raised a big garden using a potato fork to turn the soil and a hoe. Her family was her pride and joy. After the children were raised, she worked as a cook at the Blue Mound School. Later she went with her husband to where he worked construction and welding. Virginia lived in Garnett until she entered the nursing home in 2007, residing there until her death. She passed from this earth to her heavenly home to join her family who preceded her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Elizabeth Randall; her husband, Henry Dozier; her daughter, Donna Rohrer; one great granddaughter, Tiera Nicole Whitley; two son-in-laws, Charles McGee and Forrest Johnston. Virginia is survived by her children, Carolyn McGee of Blue Mound, Kansas; Henry "Hank" Dozier and wife Pat of Fox, Arkansas; Ladean Kempinger and husband Karl of Blue Mound, Kansas; Betty Lytle and husband Joe of Garnett, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, April 8, 2013, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends on Monday afternoon one hour prior to service. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International in her honor.
