Vivian Lorena Fink, age 99, of Garnett, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Parkview Heights, Garnett.
She was born November 7, 1919 in Birch Tree, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Sophia Edna (Crays) Cowan. Vivian graduated from Hepler High School in Hepler, Kansas. She married Evert Elmer Edison "Ed" Fink on January 19, 1941 in Iola, Kansas. Their daughter, Sherrie Joan, was born on March 8, 1948. Vivian, Evert and Sherrie settled down to family life at 316 E. 3rd, where they lived for over 50 years.
Vivian liked and was very skilled at crocheting, needlework and quilting. She was also quite the cook, her food not only tasted delicious but was so prettily displayed as well. Another talent she possessed was hanging wallpaper, no crooked strips or twisted corners allowed!
Vivian enjoyed reading and her eyesight was very good until the day she died. She worked for several years at the Garnett Public Library and became head librarian when the new library was built in 1968.
Vivian and Evert were members of the First United Methodist Church. Vivian was also a member of the Magdalena Circle at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sophia Cowan, husband Evert "Ed" Fink; daughter Sherrie Joan Paul; brother, James Cowan and wife Louise; sister Mary Mills and husband Robert Mills.
Vivian is survived by nieces and nephews, Julie Proffitt and husband Darrel; Merla Harvey and husband Jim; Leland Raney and wife Judy; as well as cousins and extended family members, Earl and Sharon Rocker, their children, Erin and Ian and families; Curt and Debbie Wiesner and family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, October 21, 2019, at Feuerborn Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, with burial following at Garnett Cemetery.
