Wallace Lee Peine, 80, of rural Piqua, Kansas, died Friday, April 20, 2012, at his home. Wallace was born August 30, 1931, at Greeley, Kansas, the son of Curtis John and Genevieve Emma (Kress) Peine. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Cedar Falls, Iowa and served in the U.S. Navy. On November 17, 1950, Wallace married Phyllis Callies and they were later divorced. He worked for the City of Waterloo and then as a tool and die maker at Chamberlin Manufacturing in Waterloo for a number of years. He began farming in Iowa in 1959. In 1984, he moved to a farm west of Piqua where he continued farming. He was a member of the Iola American Legion. SURVIVORS: 3 Sons: Ronald Peine & wife, Sue of Fairbank, Iowa, Richard Peine & wife, Carol of Readlyn, Iowa, and Alan Peine & wife, Amy of Falling Waters, West Virginia 2 Daughters: Debra Heineman & husband, Galen of Fairbank, Iowa and Andrea Gerstenberger & husband, George of Holt, Missouri 4 Sisters: Rita Buckingham, Julie Horstman, Coena Icavone and Jeannie George 15 Grandchildren & 15 Great Grandchildren Long time companion: Theresa Dix He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Peine. ROSARY & MASS: The parish rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at St. Martin's Catholic Church at Piqua, Kansas, followed by the celebration of the mass at 3:00 p.m. BURIAL: St. Martin's Cemetery, Piqua, Kansas MEMORIAL: Allen County Hospice Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
