Warren Pierson

Warren Mark Pierson, 80, of LaHarpe, Kansas, died Monday, July 8, 2013, at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. Warren was born August 23, 1932, in Gas, Kansas, the son of Mark Othello and Margaret Agnes (Titmus) Pierson. He grew up at Gas. On February 9, 1953, Warren married Easter Frances Head in Iola. He served in the U.S. Navy and they were stationed in Norfolk, VA. Following his honorable discharge from the service, they made their home in LaHarpe. He worked 15 years for LeHigh Portland Cement Company until it closed. He then worked for Feem Products Inc. before working for Gates in Iola for a number of years before retiring. Mrs. Pierson preceded him in death on January 11, 2001. Warren was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and caring for stray animals. SURVIVORS: 3 Sons: Steven Mark Pierson & wife, Vicky of Mexico, MO, Randy Pierson & wife, Betty of Emporia, KS, and Gary Pierson of LaHarpe, KS 1 Daughter: Rhonda Staggs & husband, Tom of Hartford, KS 1 Brother: Benny Pierson & wife, Jeri of Phoenix, AZ 1 Sister: Ruthie Henry of Gas, KS 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by one sister, Fern Tinnel and two brothers, Forest Raymond Pierson and Joseph Pierson. VISITATION: 7:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
