Wendy Rachelle "Shelly" McMurray, age 61, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at Salina Regional Hospital in Salina, Kansas.
Shelly was born August 22, 1960, in Iola, Kansas, to Ralph James and Wilma Nadine (Boese) Reeder, Jr.
Shelly graduated from Iola High School and attended Allen County Community College receiving a degree in psychology. She worked at Haldex Brake in Iola for 25 years. Her work there included being a CNC operator, parts assembly and working her way to Quality Control. After the plant closed, Shelly found herself working with children. A job she really enjoyed.
On September 25, 1993, Shelly married James "Jim" L. McMurray. They made their home in Iola. Jim and Shelly hosted over 13 foster children in their time together.
Shelly is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters, Valerie Gonzalez, and Crystal Sicka; sons, Ben, Dennis, and Andrew. Shelly has 14 grandchildren.
Son, Scotty McMurray; her sisters, Robin and Greta; brothers, Jim, Rich, Gary, and Aric; parents, Ralph James Reeder, Jr. and Wilma Nadine Reeder preceded her in death.
