Wilbur S. Louk, age 85, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Life Care Center in Burlington, Kansas. He was born on November 6, 1923 west of Garnett, the son of Ed Louk and Dee (Wilson) Louk. He was the third child of five. Wilbur attended Minkler Star School and graduated from Kincaid High School in 1941. Wilbur married Esther Lucille Osborn on April 19, 1942 at Ottawa, Kansas. This union was blessed with three sons. He married Shirley Hart on September 26, 1996 in Arkansas. In 1945, Wilbur became a member of Kincaid Lodge #338 and was a member for 64 years. He was also a Shrine member. Wilbur and Lucille enjoyed many years belonging to the Duplicate Bridge Club and also enjoyed dancing. HE spent his life farming and raising cattle. He also enjoyed horses, fishing, hunting and traveling. His travels included many trips to Colorado as well as Alaska, Ireland, Scotland, Nova Scotia and more. After marrying Shirley, they enjoyed more travel. Family was very important to Wilbur, taking his grandchildren fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Esther Lucille Louk on October 27, 1992; a sister, Edna Bailey; brother, Cedric Louk; and one grandson, Earl Dean Louk. Wilbur is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; his sons, Gary Louk and wife Irene of Garnett, Kansas; Glen Louk and wife Donna of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Leonard Louk and wife Vicky of Kincaid, Kansas; one sister, Arla Faye Brown of Moran, Kansas; one brother, Doug Louk of Shellknob, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Nancy Becker and husband Gene of Kincaid, Kansas; John Louk and wife Terri of Kincaid, Kansas; Roy Louk and wife Denice of Garnett, Kansas; Dale Louk and wife Jenny of Moran, Kansas; Glenna Hass and husband Daniel of Sterling, Kansas; Ashley Louk of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Marshal Louk of Carol, Iowa; fifteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1030 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service at Garnett, burial at the Garnett Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner Hospital or to the Alzheimer Association.
