Wilburn "Duane" Isaacs

Wilburn "Duane" Isaacs, age 87, of Branson, Missouri, passed peacefully in his sleep on Thursday January 9, 2025. At Duane's request, a private family graveside service will be held on January 16, 2025, and a celebration of life will be planned for early Spring in Bonner Springs, Kansas (details to be announced on social media).

Duane was born December 14, 1937, in Stillwell, Oklahoma, the son of Nettie E. Haney and Alves L. Isaacs. He was a graduate of Elsmore School in Elsmore, Kansas. Duane spent his life on this earth in Stillwell & Shaw, Oklahoma, Savonburg & Elsmore, Kansas, then later in Fairway, Kansas City, and Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Branson, Missouri. On August 1, 1977, Duane married Kathleen S. Beck of Kansas City, Kansas. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad in Argentine, Kansas after many years of service as a Foreman and locomotive machinist. He was a well known and respected race car driver, builder and mechanic in the Kansas City area.

Duane enjoyed his retirement years building custom race car parts for his grandsons, collecting & rebuilding antique tractors, designing and building custom projects for his children and grandchildren, and helping his neighbors when needed.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his half-sister, Lorena M. Hill, his half-brother, Wallace Hill of Newton, Kansas, his brother, Gayle Isaacs of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his sister, Patsy Derezotes of Ozark, Missouri, and his wife, Kathleen Isaacs.

He is survived by his beloved pets, Dakota, Mollie and Lillie of the home, 3 daughters; Sharon Isaacs of Lenexa, Kansas, Teresa (Danny) Holder of Scott City, Missouri, Donna Isaacs (Roe Bales) of Prairie Village, Kansas, 2 sons; David (Aileen) Isaacs of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Bryan (Dreya) Beck of Branson, Missouri. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; Laura (Tommy) Mallon, Courtney (Keith) Gross, Jason (Jennifer) Holder, Loretta Isaacs, Gregory Sprinkle, Rabecca Bales, Ethan Isaacs, Lucas Isaacs and Coleman Isaacs, Brittni (Josh) Newman, Christian Beck, Tayler Beck; and 9 great grandchildren; Kayla, Katie, Kalli and Jay Mallon, Isaac Ramsey, Reese & Jack Holder, and Kinsely & Addie Newman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society.
