Willard G. "Bill" Cowsky, age 82, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born April 8, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of William Herman Cowsky and Lena (Henrichs) Cowsky. Bill married Lois Jensen in Omaha, Nebraska. Two children were born to this union, Steven and Nancy. She preceded him in death on January 10, 1997. He married Normalee Norman in March of 1999. Bill worked for 44 years as a gas man in Omaha working for Metropolitan Utilities District, retiring and moved. Bill and Normalee moved to Kansas in September of 2012 to be nearer their families. He became ill on November 22, 2011, and was rushed to the hospital emergency room, then sent on to Kansas City where he spent most of his time in various hospitals. Between hospital stays, he entered the KC Hospice House on February 28, 2012, until his death. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Doris Pannell in 1976; and brother, Larry Cowsky in 2005. He is survived by his wife, Normalee Cowsky, of the home; son, Steven Cowsky of Louisville, Nebraska; daughter, Nancy Simmons of South Bend, Indiana; six grandchildren, Josh Cowsky; McKenzie Cowsky; Alexandria Cowsky; Amy Simmons; Elizabeth Simmons; Adam Simmons; one great grandchild, Ryder Cowsky. Bill was cremated, and his ashes inurned with his first wife Lois in the Louisville Cemetery. A graveside service is planned. He requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KC Hospice House or to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Transportation Fund or to the charity of your choice.
