William Allen

William D. Allen, 85, of Iola, Kansas died early Saturday morning, October 2, 2010 at the Moran Manor. William was born September 27, 1925, in Longmont, Colorado to James and Helen (Stover) Allen. One of 14 children, he grew up in the Loveland, Colorado area. He served in the United States Army during World War II and in the National Guard of Colorado. On March 21, 1953, William married Doris E. Myers. They made their home in Colorado and Wyoming before moving to California. He worked for the State of California taking care of state parks. Doris died September 29, 2000. He then moved to Iola to live with his daughter Diana and her husband Norman Mullins. He loved to fish and work outside in the yard. SURVIVORS: 4 Children: Tammy Allen of Ventura, CA, Debi Corella & husband, Greg of Oxnard, CA, Diana Mullins & husband, Norman and Ron Allen & wife, Ann both of Iola, KS A son, Mike, died in 1987 2 Sisters: Dorothy Renshaw of Ventura, CA and Barbara Hersh of Ft. Collins, CO 10 Grandchildren & 13 Great Grandchildren Funeral services are being held in California. Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, is in charge of local arrangements.
