William Barnes

William Perry "Babe" Barnes, 77, of Savonburg, Kansas, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at the Allen County Regional Hospital in Iola. Babe was born January 28, 1938, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Troy and Jessie (Graves) Barnes. He grew up in Iola. On March 16, 1961, he married Kathryn M. Peterson in Iola. They made their home in Wichita shortly after they were married. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Wichita for 30 years before retiring. In 1993 they returned to this area. SURVIVORS: His wife of almost 55 years: Kathryn Barnes of the home 3 Children: Debra Johnston of Savonburg, KS, Diana Reyes of Iola and Jimmy Barnes of West Virginia 9 Grandchildren & 15 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, William Perry Barnes, Jr., grandson Jimmy Barnes, Jr. and 3 siblings, Vernon, Glen and Nancy Barnes. VISITATION: 1:00-3:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Cremation will follow the visitation.
