Bill Teter, age 75, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Parkview Heights in Garnett.
William David Teter was born on May 9, 1948, in Garnett, Kansas. "Wild Bill" was the seventh of eleven children born to Flick M. and Verna May (Demoret) Teter. He had six brothers and four sisters. They grew up in rural Greeley, Kansas, in a three bedroom home. He learned how to work hard at a young age on the farm. Bill didn't know a stranger and loved to visit with people.
He worked as a supervisor at the Power Plant in Garnett for 25 years until he was injured. Over the course of six surgeries on his back he would never complain of pain.
Bill was a jokester and played and teased all the time. He loved KU Basketball, playing cards, fishing, watching the Chiefs and rodeos. The last 15 years of Bill's life included countless health challenges, yet Bill found a way to always be present and positive for family events and supporting them however he could. You could always find him at one of his kids or grandkids sporting or school events. He loved so many and he was very loved and will be deeply missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alberta Nadine Teter and Judy Garcia; two brothers Kenny Rodger Teter and Richard Teter.
Bill married Elizabeth Reyes on December 30, 1967, and they later divorced. They were blessed with four children, Lisa Mudd and Glenn of Garnett, Loretta Teter and Chris Katzer of Greeley, Victoria Lutz and Jason Williams, and Victor David Teter, of Garnett; eight grandchildren, Bethany Leland and Corbin, Leah Mudd and Tyler Maloan, Thomas Mudd and Ashlyn Miller, Tristan Wilson and Taran, Mackenzie Lutz and Zack Hunt, Marah Lutz and Bronson Sparks, Eric Small and Lacie, and Faith Teter; he was known as Great Papa Bill Monkey to 11 great grandbabies, whom he adored. He is also survived by four brothers and two sisters, Leroy Teter and Zella of Garnett, Beverly Ann Nobles of Cummings, Georgia, James E. Teter of Ottawa, Kansas, Mike Teter and Connie, Randy Teter and Debbie, and Mary Garcia and Ramon, all of Garnett, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
