William Bill Garrison, age 72, of Garnett, Kansas, died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Anderson County Long Term Care Facility, Garnett, Kansas. He was bon on May 19, 1935, the son of Thurman and Modine Garrison at Winfield, Alabama. Bill attended school and graduated from high school in Hubersville, Alabama. Shortly after high school, he joined the military and served his country for eight years. After his service to his country, he went back home to Winfield, Alabama and worked construction before coming to Garnett in 1959. He worked several years as a lineman for the telephone company. In 1966, he took a job for the City of Garnett, working his way up to Director of Service when he retired in 1995. Bill always enjoyed time with family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and fishing. He married Edna Mae Pickert on February 11, 1966. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2007. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Pearl Garrison; Homer and Modine Harris; and one brother, Thurman Garrison Jr. Bill is survived by many friends and family. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Interment will follow in the Garnett Cemetery.
