William S. Graham, age 91, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, Kansas. Bill was born on March 3, 1918, at Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Frank B. Graham and Effie Mae (Shaw) Graham. He lived in Kansas City for much of his young life and attended schools in the Kansas City area. Bill spent his summers in Garnett with his Grandmother Shaw. He graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Alice Josephine Day on March 15, 1938, at Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children, Glenda Jo and Frank B. Graham. Bill traveled with the Graham School from 1939 until it became stationary in Garnett in 1959, then teaching until 1998. He was loved by his students for his knowledge and the stories that he told. Bill was very active with the Boy Scouts during the 1950's, hosting campouts at his farm. He later had a career of making Indian jewelry. When one door closed for him, he always opened another. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Josephine Graham on October 28, 1997; and his daughter, Glenda Jo Cramer in 1992. He is survived by his son, Frank Graham and wife Mary of Garnett; four grandchildren, Lisa Wichert and husband Jerry of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Robert Darren Cramer and wife Shayla of Altus, Oklahoma; William J. Graham and wife Tonya of Garnett, Kansas; Jennifer Wilson and husband Lynn of Garnett; nine great grandchildren, Tiffany Hynson, Justin Wichert, Sinjin Cramer, Creighton Cramer, Jake Graham, Annsley Graham, Tanner Wilson, Bailee Wilson, and Averi Wilson; and three great great grandchildren. Bill will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all that were acquainted with him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the First Christian Church, Garnett, burial following at the Garnett Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends at the church at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church or Delphian Lodge #44.
