William Hinde

William Lee "Bill" Hinde, 83, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, August 20, 2012, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola. Bill was born February 5, 1929, in Haxtun, Colorado, the son of Harold and Catherine (Wilhelmi) Hinde. He grew up at Haxtun and graduated from high school at Dailey, Colorado. On August 12, 1950, Bill married Gladys J. Micheli in Denver, Colorado. They made their home in a number of states before moving to Iola in 1963. Bill's father-in-law, F.A. Micheli, purchased the M&M Bakery and renamed it the F&F Bakery. When Bill bought out his inlaws, they renamed it Renee's Bakery which is still in the family. Mrs. Hinde preceded him in death on February 11, 1975. Bill enjoyed bowling when he was younger. He loved watching baseball and was a die-hard Royals fan. Hinde & wife, Sandy of Jefferson City, MO, Renee Strawder & husband, Mark of LeRoy, KS, and Angie Alexander & husband, Mike of Lenexa, KS 3 Siblings: Zola Riley of Sterling, CO, Jim Hinde & wife, Dottie of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dick Hinde & wife, Pearl of Haxtun, CO 1 Brother-in-law & Close Friend: Phil Micheli & wife, Ellen of Marietta, CA 8 Grandchildren: Brian, Michael, Jeffrey & wife, Kim, Eric & wife, Shara, Kara, Alicia, Emily & husband, Dustin and Grant & wife, Kelly 7 Great Grandchildren: Travis, Hanna, Alec, Alexandria, Alexia, Layten and Addison He was preceded in death by three siblings, Wayne Hinde, Elaine Wilderman and Rebecca Hinde. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
