Zelma R. Heckman, 72, of Piqua, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012, at her home. Zelma was born December 27, 1939, in Harrisville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Harry and Lillian (McFarland) Croy. She married George Reese in 1956 and they made their home in the Sharon, Pennsylvania area until moving to Yates Center, Kansas. They were married for 22 years and had 4 children before they divorced. She married Earl G. Heckman on August 2, 1980 at Yates Center and they made their home south of Piqua until moving into town in 2001. He preceded her in death July 27, 2005. Zelma has worked at Wolf Creek, Berg, Midland and retired from Haldex. She also worked for Richard Habiger and did home health. She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Iola, and had bowled in the women's bowling league. She enjoyed doing yardwork and tending her plants and flowers. SURVIVORS: 4 Children: George Reese, Jr. of Brookville, Pennsylvania, Deborah Rife & husband, Donald of Westphalia, KS, Mark Reese of Piqua, KS and Clara Louise Reese of Yates Center, KS 2 Brothers: Harry Croy of Harrisville, PA and Merle Croy of Virginia Beach, VA 3 Sisters: Edith Simms and Garnett Heglen both of Grove City, PA and Ruby Taylor of Warren, PA 6 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard Croy and Paul Eugene Croy and 1 sister, Helen. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. BURIAL: St. Martin's Cemetery at Piqua, KS MEMORIAL: American Cancer Society Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
